Production of industrial enzymes using agricultural residues

What's the Problem?

Enzymes are nature-made and extremely efficient catalysts. They have the ability to accelerate reactions and break down complex matter into smaller useful pieces, replacing highly polluting chemicals and enhancing the use of feedstock. However, the high cost of these molecules makes their application economically unviable in processes where their benefits have already been demonstrated. The technology, illustrated on the right, necessary to efficiently produce enzymes turns highly complex products into expensive formulations that fail to achieve clients.

How are they Solving it?

APEXzymes pioneers affordable enzyme production, unlocking sustainability and economic viability in diverse markets. With a combined experience of more than 20 years, their research team has developed a proprietary platform and process for low cost enzyme production. APEXzymes is able to efficiently use highly abundant agro-industrial by-products as raw materials, drastically reducing enzyme production costs. Combined with our genetic engineering expertise, this allows us to develop complex enzyme formulations that can become viable products. Our current pipeline is focused on solutions for the food and the biofuels industry, and in the long run we aim for sectors such as the paper and pulp and the textile markets.
