About TRANSFORM Program

Stage 1:
Ignite

3 MONTHS

Each year we select ∼24 teams with scientific projects and ∼24 talented business professionals. We create the conditions for a strong match between scientists and business co-founders. Together, they develop and test value propositions, with an emphasis on team chemistry and alignment around a shared vision. After three months, there's enough insight to assess which projects are ready to move forward on the venture capital path and receive initial investment from us.

Stage 2:
Build

3 MONTHS

Invested teams enter a stage designed to validate their business models, benchmark against global standards, and refine their strategic narrative. Through expert mentorship with strategic partners, collaborative update meetings, and direct engagement with investors, teams build the capabilities needed for long-term success and market readiness.

Stage 3:
Journey to fundraising

6 MONTHS

Startup teams focus on sharpening their positioning, building robust investor materials, and deepening their understanding of market fit. With ongoing support from GRIDX and its network of advisors, teams prepare for international exposure—including a roadshow in major innovation hubs—to connect with global partners and investors.

ABOUT

What is TRANSFORM about?

TRANSFORM is a process designed to turn cutting-edge science into high-impact startups and invest in them. The process is divided into three stages: IGNITE, BUILD, and JOURNEY TO FUNDRAISING. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to join in the first stage, IGNITE. For three months, teams participate in webinars, workshops, and networking events to bring research closer to real-world innovation. Throughout the program, scientists connect with business professionals to form strong, interdisciplinary founding teams. At the end, those teams that are best positioned to establish themselves as startups are eligible to receive our initial investment and continue on to the next stages.

What kinds of projects participate in TRANSFORM?

We look for ambitious scientific teams across LATAM ready to take the leap from lab to startup. Their projects can impact the agri-food value chain, bioindustries (including petrochemical alternatives), frontier technologies for biotechnology, and human health. GRIDX supports teams with the potential to solve real problems and generate global impact.

What is the goal of TRANSFORM?

The goal of TRANSFORM is to build ventures with interdisciplinary founding teams capable of turning breakthrough science into scalable companies. We help scientists and business entrepreneurs connect, complement each other’s skills, and create the next generation of biotech startups for LATAM and the world.

Where can I find more information?

You can find more information on our YouTube channel, and social media. We regularly share interviews, updates, and stories from past participants.

Why GRIDX?

What sets us apart: our own team of scientists and business professionals works hands-on with you throughout the journey, empowering your team to turn breakthrough science into a scalable, impactful startup with the best chance of reaching global markets. Startups in our portfolio also become part of a community of over 250 founders, creating a unique ecosystem in Latin America where teams can share experiences, insights, and opportunities.

APPLY

How do I apply?

You can apply through our website by completing the online form. The process is simple and takes about 15 minutes. Make sure to share clear information about your scientific project or business profile so we can understand your vision and potential.

What happens after I apply?

Once you apply, our team will review your submission. If your project or profile matches our criteria, we may contact you for a first interview. After an initial review, selected applicants move on to further interviews and evaluation stages, until the final cohort is defined.

What’s the application deadline?

You can find the application deadline and all key dates on our website and social media channels. We recommend applying as early as possible, as spots are limited and the review process starts before the deadline.

I’ve applied to GRIDX before. Is that a problem?

Not at all. If you’ve applied before, you’re welcome to apply again. Many successful founders have participated after several attempts.

What’s the selection process like for business profiles?

The selection process for business profiles includes an initial online application, informational sessions, and interviews that allow us to get to know the candidates better. The most outstanding profiles advance to a practical challenge (Biotech CEO Challenge), and from there, those who will ultimately join our program are selected.

What’s the selection process like for scientific teams?

The selection process begins with an application via the form on our website. If the project is aligned with our focus, we propose an initial 15-minute meeting with the scientific team to get to know each other better. Then, the 50 most outstanding projects move on to a second round of interviews. Throughout the process, we explore two fundamental aspects together: on the one hand, that there is an innovative proposal with scientific soundness; and on the other, that at least one of the team members has entrepreneurial curiosity and motivation. This is key, as co-founding a startup is a challenging and long-term journey that eventually becomes a true life project.

ELIGIBILITY

Do I have to quit my research job to join?

The first stage of the process, IGNITE, is designed so that you can participate without having to leave your current role or position, and in the case of scientists, without neglecting research activities.

I don’t know anything about business. Can I still apply?

Absolutely. Our TRANSFORM program is built to create interdisciplinary teams that combine scientific and business talent. If you bring the science, we’ll help you connect with entrepreneurial profiles who can complement your skills.
